This project explores how an existing industrial building can express its purpose through its exterior. The proposal removes a mansard roof to reveal the simple masonry volume beneath, retaining the existing walls and roof while creating a continuous surface for artwork.

Facade studies test the relationship between art and architecture at the scale of the warehouse. Repeated text and fields of color wrap around corners and across long elevations, interrupted by windows and loading doors. Alternative studies explore dimensional surfaces, from faceted white panels to overlapping weathering steel. Each approach uses the existing building’s broad, largely uninterrupted walls to give the art warehouse a distinct public presence.
